We are well aware that in order to contribute credibly and effectively we need to focus and prioritise. Consequently, we focus primarily on contributing to SDGs 12 and 14, through specific targets 12.5, 12.6, 14.2, and 14.a.
SDG #12:
Responsible consumption and production
– ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
TARGET 12.5: By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.
At Letbek we primarily use recycled materials for production of new plastic products and solutions. Internally we practice a lean behaviour and develop innovative solutions for our customers in order to significantly reduce waste. Furthermore, our ingenuity and our approach to sustainability mean that we deliver durable, long-lasting products and solutions.
TARGET 12.6: Encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle.
SDG #14:
Life below water
– conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
TARGET 14.2: By 2020, sustainably manage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems to avoid significant adverse impacts, including by strengthening their resilience, and take action for their restoration in order to achieve healthy and productive oceans.
We apply large quantities of ocean plastic to our products and solutions.
TARGET 14.A: Increase scientific knowledge, develop research capacity and transfer marine technology, taking into account the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission Criteria and Guidelines on the Transfer of Marine Technology, in order to improve ocean health and to enhance the contribution of marine biodiversity to the development of developing countries, in particular small island developing States and least developed countries.
We constantly explore new ways to utilise ocean plastic. We share our know-how and our extensive experience, and we take part in research and development projects.
